The Odisha Police have established a complex five-tier security setup in Puri ahead of the world-famous Rath Yatra, complete with sophisticated monitoring systems and strong emergency response procedures to guarantee the safety of thousands of pilgrims.
Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania told reporters on Sunday that calculated locations all around the pilgrim town are going to be watched by 275 CCTV cameras that are equipped with artificial intelligence (AI).
More than 10,000 police officers will be on the ground according to the top cop. Drone surveillance will support these officers, along with Quick Response Teams (QRTs).
Multiple layers of security troops will be deployed. To protect the coastal area, the Indian Coast Guard would also be positioned near Puri Beach, the DGP said.
Health Concern
For the deities’ yearly visit, a great expansion to the health infrastructure has occurred. For handling any emergency, the Odisha government has organized 265 special hospital beds as well as deployed 64 ambulances and established 69 temporary health centers.
